Bench Show Handler of the Year 

Points Program

Points will be awarded when competing at Coonhound Events sponsored by the Kentucky Houndsmen Association throughout the year.  Owner and handler must be a member upon entry of their initial event to be eligible to gain points. Must compete in and complete a minimum of three separate events to be eligible for award.  Each day of a two day event are considered one separate event. Youth handlers must be age 17 or under as of October 1. Youth handlers may or may not compete with same hound throughout the series, those choosing to do so could possibly win youth handler as well as respective hound of the year. 

Sponsored Events

Spring Hunt: May 21st and 22nd

Dix River: June 4th and 5th

State Youth Hunt: September 11th

State Hunt: October 1st and 2nd.

Nite Hunt Points System

10 points – Entry and successful completion of cast (withdrawn or scratch will result in 0 points)
 

50 points – Cast Win with plus points
 

30 points – First place overall (Overall placement is determined by plus points with CW of all hounds without regard of title (ie. Gr Nt Ch, Nt Ch, Reg.).
 

25 points – Second place overall
 

20 points – Third place overall
 

15 points – Fourth place overall
 

10 points – Fifth place overall
 

5 points – Sixth through Tenth place overall
(In case of tie – tie break will be decided by total plus points gained at events. )  

Bench Show Point System

10 points – Entry and successful completion
 

50 points - Best of Show (male and female)
 

50 points - Champion of Show (male and female)
 

50 points - Grand Champion of Show (male and female)
 

30 points – Overall Show winner         

20 points - Overall opposite sex winner

(One overall in show and one opposite sex will be awarded on the second day of two day events and at Youth Championship.)


** 50 additional points awarded to any dog or youth handler competing in all seven events **

  * Youth Handler award is given to the highest point total of a Handler and Hound team. *
