"Dedicated to protecting the heritage of Kentucky Houndsmen"

The Kentucky Houndsmen Association, work on behalf of dog owners across the state of Kentucky with state and local lawmakers to protect our rights. KHA supports all leaders whose priorities are the same as ours, regardless of political affiliation.

Our relationship with the KDFW is a supportive one.  We work to strengthen the unity between the dog owners and the KDFW always encouraging the purchase of hunting license which is the life blood of the KDFW.
Houndsmen are the backbone of the hunting industry which is a mainstay of Kentucky economics.  We are responsible for the purchase of goods and services that range from dog food to ammunition, from veterinarian bills to hotel rooms.  Houndsmen all across this state spend millions of dollars.  Some live in Kentucky and some come here from all parts of the U.S. to hunt with a dog, partake in a bench show, Nite Hunt or Field Trial.

KHA realize that the next generation must step up or not only will the KDFW suffer the economy of the state will. One can only imagine what it would be like to lose the tradition of hunting with a dog.  Not on our watch!  Getting the youth involved in the outdoors is a top priority of ours.  That is why we support not only financially but volunteer our time to the youth of Kentucky.  Some of our youth sponsored activities are; Cave Run Kids Fishing Derby, KDFW Conservation Camps, Breeders Showcase Youth Championship, AKC State Youth Championship and the UKC State Youth Championship.  When we get the youth involved we are building a base that will be involved in activities such as our beagle clubs, fox clubs, bird clubs and of course coon clubs.
As President of the Kentucky Houndsmen Association my philosophy is this: Work hard to improve the rich heritage we have now, work harder to preserve it for the generations to come and always be a positive influence.
