KHA Bench Show Handler of the Year
Points will be awarded when competing at Coonhound Events sponsored by the Kentucky Houndsmen Association throughout the year.
The owner and handler must be a KHA member upon entry of their initial event to be eligible to gain points.
Dog or Youth handler must compete in and complete a minimum of three separate KHA events to be eligible for the award. A scratch or withdraw or a bench show dismissal will not be considered a complete event.
Each day of a two-day event is considered a separate event.
Youth handlers must be age 17 or under to be eligible to compete in any or all events for that calendar year.
Youth handlers may or may not compete with same hound throughout the series, those choosing to do so could possibly win youth handler as well as respective hound of the year.
The KHA Spring Championship
May 8 & 9 Hosted by the Long Hollow Coon Club Somerset Ky
The KHA Benefit for Sportsmen's Rights Event
June 12 & 13 at the Paris Stockyard, Paris Ky
The KHA Ky State Youth Championship
Aug 1st at the Clark County Fairgrounds, Winchester Ky
The KHA Ky State Championship
Sept 25 & 26 at the Clark County Fairgrounds, Winchester Ky
1 point for each night hunt cast win.
Points apply to dogs, not handlers.
1 point for each BOS, Ch or Gr Ch show win.
Points apply to dogs, not handlers.
Youth Points will be the same as above except points are applied to Youth Handlers. In addition, Youth Handlers get 1 point for each event that they enter. Youth handler Show Points will only apply to the highest placing dog that they handle if they chose to handle more than one dog at each event.
Hunting Dog or Youth Handler
1. Dog or Youth Handler with the most plus points earned throughout the series.
2. Dog or Youth Handler with the least minus points throughout the series.
3. Hunt off or coin toss if still tied.
Show Dog or Youth Show Handler
1. Dog or Youth Handler with the highest total number of dogs that they competed against throughout the series year will be declared the winner. Only dogs competed against to win their respective class for each event will be counted.
2. There will be a head to head show or coin toss if still tied.
